We are delighted to share the inaugural edition of the SafeSpaces Project Newsletter, highlighting our collective efforts to address the needs of unaccompanied refugee youth, among the 37 million displaced young people globally.
The SafeSpaces initiative is committed to fostering equality, inclusion, and comprehensive support while combating discrimination, ensuring young refugees can access the resources they need to build successful futures.
Key Highlights from Our Kickoff Meeting:
- Representatives from Bulgaria, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Spain, Norway, and Mexico convened to develop strategies for successful project implementation.
- Focus Groups were conducted with unaccompanied minors and professionals to understand the challenges and needs specific to each country.
- Discussions revolved around critical areas, including:
- Education
- Mental health support
- Legal assistance
- Social integration
- Employment opportunities
These findings underscore the importance of a holistic approach to integration and the need for robust, tailored support systems to address the unique challenges faced by unaccompanied minors.
